Dear IGS Students,
I am very pleased to announce that ALL Mercer Fulbright Semi-Finalists for 2016-17 are IGS students. Fulbright, in case you did not know, is "the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries”.
Nora Darling, Global Health and Anthropology, was selected as a semi-finalist for Botswana.
Alayna Williams, International Affairs, was selected as a semifinalist for South Africa.
David Wildes, International Affairs, was selected as a semi-finalist for Spain.
Aaron Scherf, Global Development Studies minor, was selected as a semi-finalist for Germany.
This means that every program in the IGS department the Asian Studies is represented in this year’s selection.
Congratulations to all the students on this outstanding achievement.
I speak for my colleagues when I say that the IGS faculty are deeply committed to the intellectual and personal growth of our students, and we are all very proud of your successes!
