Department of Mathematics

Mathematics, as one of the cornerstones of the liberal arts, is among the premier achievements of human thought. The Department of Mathematics aspire to edify students in the beauties of mathematical reasoning and logical persuasion. In addition to providing a rigorous program of study and support for our majors and minors, Mercer's mathematics program serves the diverse needs of students studying in the traditional liberal arts, natural and social sciences, engineering, business, and education.  Our graduates pursue careers in fields that are impressive in quality and diversity. The department can recommend specific coursework that prepares students for secondary teaching, for graduate school and for any profession that requires precise thinking such as actuarial science, finance, and operations research. Come get to know the faculty and explore the opportunities.
