Most full-time Psychology and Biology faculty members at Mercer University have active research programs. That is, most faculty members contribute to the knowledge that is covered in the curriculum. Faculty members in each field regularly present their research at professional conferences and publish in their areas of expertise.
Because research experience is a necessary qualification for entry in graduate programs in Psychology, Biology, and Neuroscience, every student is invited to participate in one or another of the faculty research groups. Students are encouraged to participate in research as colleagues; that is, you will have an opportunity to contribute to the very knowledge to which you are exposed in your courses. Students participating in research groups have presented papers at professional conferences and have authored and coauthored research articles and book chapters. Previous research experience is not necessary to join a research group; only an interest in the subject matter is required.
